Staff Development

We believe in providing best practice, evidenced based care. Our doctors, nurses and midwives are trained to the highest standards of care.

Currently, we are training 31 young Cambodian doctors and medical students and run an informal general medicine curriculum. They are taught important skills both theoretically and practically on a daily basis. We have just graduated seven doctors in November 2016.

For example, the staff have been provided with training in wound suturing and applying casts. The program consists of formal lectures, case discussions, bed site teaching and one on one case discussion in the clinics and in the Emergency Department.

We are working to further structure and professionalize this training. The training is conducted by experienced professionals and volunteers. Foreign volunteers also offer further specialized training in areas such as cardiology, anesthesia or surgery.

We are looking for donors to support our training program. We currently spend around $30,000.00 for training development.

Continuous Medical Education

We have started to offer continuous medical education seminars and we invite medical professionals from Kampot and Kep Provinces to join us. Our doctors present cases and discuss evidence-based management of health problems often encountered in Southern Cambodia. Thus, we assist in capacity strengthening of the health sector. The first seminar discussed the management of snake bites and treatment.
