Blood Bank

In August 2016 we opened our own blood bank. SKMH can now provide packed red cells and fresh frozen plasma to patients. Additionally, for long-term sustainability, the blood bank is integrated in the national strategic plan as a non-profit blood transfusion center.

We frequently have regional blood drives and recruit donors from local government organizations. We are always looking for people to donate. If you have one hour and 350ml of blood to spare, please come to SKMH. It is best if you call the laboratory before coming. Call 077 666 752 to arrange a donation time or just jump in. Best time is Tuesday – Saturday, 14:00 – 16:00 o’clock.

In return you will receive a general health check-up, including a check for anemia, before you donate and a infectious viral screening; plus a drink and a snack after donation including the wonderful feeling of knowing that you may help save a life (or your own)

The process is very safe, with expert nurses to collect your blood in air- conditioned comfort.
